Description: Anchor Hocking 1940s Round Puff Box & Lid Moonstone Clear Opalescent For consideration is this pressed Depression glass clear and opalescent puff box and lid made by Anchor Hocking in Lancaster, Ohio, USA, between 1942 and 1946. The pattern is called Moonstone and is very similar to hobnails in design but the tops are smooth and rounded. Moonstone is a pearly white semiprecious stone which is where the pattern name comes from. A couple of fun facts: This style was popular during Victorian times and was sometimes called “Dew Drop Glass”, which would certainly apply here. Also, I can remember my grandmother using this type of dish as she “dusted” after every bath and the bathroom would be filled with her powder fragrance. A nice memory! This puff box measures 2¾ inches tall with the lid in place and the bowl measures 1¾ inches tall, the mouth measures 4½ inches in diameter and the base measures 3 3/8 inches in diameter. There is no maker’s mark. Note that the lid has a lovely little scallop around the edges, a small flower in the center and the base has a large flower in the center. This is in excellent vintage condition with no nicks, chips, cracks, repairs, scratches or discoloration noted. Buyer will receive FREE shipping. Thank you for looking!
