Description: Antique Blue and White Salt Glazed Stoneware Salt Crock Butterfly with Lid Description: Early on, salt boxes of different styles were commonly found in kitchens, hung near the stove away from damp areas. Made of stoneware, this classic blue, salt glaze crock with a stoneware lid and knob is a delightful fit in a country farmhouse setting. Four embossed butterflies encircle the crock. Although this crock does show some age, having its flaws and not perfect, it displays as a charming and functional piece of early stoneware. Note: Refer to “Condition” for additional information. Left and right side has a 3” hairline cracks (as shown). A bit chippy around top ring were lid sits and top of finial (as shown). Normal wear and a few small chips to edge of base. Although lid looks great with the crock, it is unknown if original to the piece as the pattern looks a bit different.
