Description: Antique Chinese Hand Carved Wood Moon Cake Mold This lovely mold is probably at least 100 years old (if not older). Used to make Mooncakes during the "Mid-Autumn" Festival celebrated annually in Chinese communities all over the world. Traditionally falling on the 15th day of the 8th Lunar Moon, called "Mid-Autumn" or "Night of the Moon". Legend has it that there is an Osmanthus Tree on the Moon, so the flower of the tree is often carved into the molds; also used are Orchids and Lotus flower designs. Dimensions: Outside = 10.25 x 3.625 x 0.75 inchesInside = 5 x 2.75 inches, 0.5 inch depth Condition: Charming antique condition with obvious age including soft, worn edges, dark, aged wood, and the design is well preserved and identifiable.
