ANTIQUE PORTRAIT JUMEAU FRENCH FASHION DOLL

Description: ~~ A Very Beautiful Portrait Jumeau Fashion Doll. She is 18.5 inches tall, very pale bisque and ice blue eyes. She has a cork pate and antique blond mohair wig, the plait braid is added but not sewn on so can be removed. She has her antique underwear and a 3 piece white cotton outfit with hand sewn cross stitch. Antique hat (shredding) and fur stole. Condition; Head and shoulder plate have no hairlines. A few raised pinpoint size bumps on her shoulder plate are in the making and not detracting. I have owned her for 7 years now and have only just noticed when taking the photos that she has a professional tiny eye flake repair to the outer corner of her left eye. I only realised seeing the magnified photos and then looking with a loupe. Now her body; It is a cloth and leather antique body. The Ruby Lane doll seller she came from told me that it was a 'Goldsmith' type of hair stuffed cloth. She said this type of body was often used on portrait Jumeau dolls, as they were not always sold as complete dolls in the nineteenth Century. I have seen a couple of others similar for sale over the years. See photos of body for condition. Just now .. I found on the internet a doll as such sold by Bonham's auction house, see photo of doll and description above in my photos. Also currently on eBay there is a Portrait Jumeau fashion doll with a cloth body, no photos of her body, but included above part of the description and photo. Obviously ones ideal would be a wood bodied doll or then a pristine perfect leather body, but then the cost would be much more, and on display she looks extremely beautiful!
