Description: Description A Fine Quality Walnut Stationery Cabinet or Desk Organiser, the Exterior with a Bramah type Lock and Working Key. The Cabinet opens up to reveal numerous shaped Compartments below a Calendar with all of the Day and Month cards to change the Date On the inside of the doors there are Brass clips for holding papers and Red Leather pads below for Pens.Below the compartments there are the Two Original Glass Inkwells either side of a Pen Tray. There is a Bone inset plaque below the Calendar with the Maker's name. ( Parkins and Gotto. 24 and 25 Regent Street. London.} The brass Lock stamped J. Mordan. Patent. London. On either side of the Calendar there are Bone inset oval plaques hand written in Old English script and incised with (Stamps) and (Matches). The Calendar is contained in a box which can be lifted out. It is supported underneath by means of an Oak Cradle which can also be removed. At the base of the Cabinet there is a Drawer with a Brass Inset Handle. The Drawer has two lidded Compartments inside with bone finials. Late 19th Century. Measurements Height. 12.75". Width. 13.5". Depth. 9.5".ConditionVery Good. Red Leather pouches inside the doors replaced with new ones but the original ones retained. Brass Bolt which locks the drawer is missing.
