Description: John James Audubon (French-American 1785 - 1851) Wilson"s Plover (Charadrius wilsonius) 1. male 2. female No. 42 from Birds of America Plate CCIX Image size: approx. 12.5 x 19.75" Sheet trimmed to 16 x 22.75" See photos for condition. The paper has been trimmed from its original dimensions to fit the mat, which is included. See images for the following damage: There is matburn/discoloration around the image; the paper has a few spots of foxing and the colors have faded. There are torn areas along the top edge where tape was removed. Audubon painted the original image. Robert Havell etched and engraved the image onto a copper plate. It was printed on black ink; the colors were added by hand to each impression. Havell usually printed each plate in the Birds of America in an edition of 435. This print is rare and original, but is priced low due to its condition. Please feel free to contact me with questions.
