Description: Excellent subject matter in this old photograph. A group of people are seen standing outside a large frame building which sports a "Mannering Post Office" sign above the last window on the left. The group of people include several men, two of whom are holding rifles and two others who are wearing holstered pistols; five children are seated in front, two with their dogs. As to location, we have not been able to identify the place. As we understand it, early post offices frequently took on the name of a person or road. The land behind the building suggests that it is in hilly terrain. Given the leafless trees in the background we are assuming the photo was taken in the winter. The photograph was found in the Cleveland, Ohio area. There is a Mannering Road on the east side of the city, but we do not know its history. Much of the east side of Cleveland is rather hilly, but we are not sure about the Mannering Road area. This photo might have been taken in an entirely different part of the county, but we are offering the above as a possibility The photo is a nice large size: 8 1/4 x 6 inch image, 11 x 9 inch mount. The photo and the mount are stained and spotted, but the central subject images are not affected by these issues. The mount, although worn, is still sturdy. Please review the preceding important condition description box and photo gallery. The photograph will be shipped well protected in a sturdy box. We combine shipping
