Any physical scratches, glue residue, surface rust or other physical imperfections are cosmetic only and ALL that we sell have been tested to perform as Heil originally sold them. Some elements, when removed from their microphone holders lose their stickers (HC-4) and those were bear our replacement stickers. ALL ARE HEIL GENUINE ELEMENTS! The important point is ALL of the GENUINE HEIL elements we sell are checked and operate perfectly. You can install this is any cool looking microphone body that you want. Bring new life to a classic microphone body that you have and make it sound fantastic! If you have any question as to your ability to solder to those tiny little pads or worry about breaking them off after you solder your wires on to them, then I offer a free service when you buy my element as described below. This is a DYNAMIC microphone element, no voltage is needed nor can any be applied for operation. If your radio has "phantom" voltage on the microphone input line, you need to use a DC blocking capacitor usually 1 to 10 uf non-polarized is good. 1 uf is usually good. The element is in good condition, we test EVERY unit with a scope and radio for proper operation! The HEIL HC-4 DX optimized element has a specially designed and tailored audio response for the magic "punch" that ONLY these elements provide. It has a peak in response at the precise spot for best and most intelligible voice recognition. Many guys think you are running an amplifier and you are still on 100 watts! The POWER in SSB is ALL AUDIO, so why now make every watt count! Do you want to know the secret of many SSB DX operators with great sounding audio that GETS THROUGH THE PILEUPS? It is THIS element! I asked why these are no longer made. The response was that they are too time consuming to custom make each each one and tailor the audio response curve! That meant they were too expensive to produce. You can still buy one here (qty is limited and I do not know if I will ever get more). Element dimensions:3/4" L x 1/2" W x 5/16" H I have tested this and it is GOOD, If you cannot solder properly and damage this because of your lack of soldering skills I will NOT honor any return! If you wish, I can solder short wires (about 2-3 inches unless you tell me you want some different length) on this element for you AND hot glue the terminals so the wires will not be easily broken off. This option makes it easy for you to connect your own wires to these little pigtails.
