Description: RARE 1983 R . THIES QUARTER RARE PLEASE READ R. THIES 1982 D Washington quarter Artist Stamp Obverse & Reverse. Shipped with USPS First Class. There are a few of these specimens located throughout the US with the same R. THIES Stamp. As its story goes, Mr. R. Thies parents once worked for the US Mint and between the years 1978-1984, the pair would take the first initial and last name of their son, and stamp it on quarters that were destined to wind up all over the US. It is unknown how they were able to complete this feat but it did speak volumes of how much they revered their son, who would unbeknownst to them grow up to be an Artist himself. The validity of this story is partially true at best, as my research always took me to the same persons and same relative story.
