RARE Vintage SIGNED Vernon Ward Country FARMHOUSE Barn Chickens MCM Print FRAMED

Description: This charming print features an English farmhouse and barn, complete with chickens and a rooster out front. A man and woman lean on a stone wall in front of the house and appear to be talking. The print is signed by British artist Vernon Ward in the lower left corner. Vernon Beauvoir Ward (1905-1985) was a 20th century English painter and commercial artist noted for his works with flowers, birds, and Edwardian subjects. He lived most of his life in Hampstead in London and trained at the Slade School of Art under Henry Tonks. His work found particular favor in the commercial sector with publishers and reproductions of his work were often found on jigsaw puzzles, greeting cards, and commercial prints. This wonderful print was part of an estate. While I don't know the exact age, I believe it was created in the late '50s - early 1960s based on the color palette and style. The print medium is foil and the colors include blue, gold, silver, Merlot, brown, black and green. The print has been beautifully custom framed with an outer embossed ivory matte and mounted in a solid wood beveled frame. The frame has been stained a dark mahogany color with a gilded gold inner border (see photos for detail). It measures about 12.5 inches inches tall and is 15.5 inches wide (framed), landscape orientation, and a nice medium size. The print is in very good condition - no stains, spots, holes or tears. The matting is in great condition with no spots, holes, cracks or tears. The frame has some minor scuffing, consistent with age, but is also in good condition. The paper covering on the back of the piece is in very good condition with very minor dings, no tears or significant holes. The glass is in good condition - no chips or cracks.
