Description: Salvia apiana is an evergreen shrub in the Lamiaceae family. Common names include White Sage, White Sacred Sage, or Bee Sage. It is a native in the Southwestern part of the U.S. to the Northwest regions, mainly growing coastal scrub habitats. It can grow to 6 feet tall but usually around 4 feet tall and wide. The beautiful leaves are white and have hairs all over them, making them soft to touch. The flowers shoot up above the foliage and display the white to lavender in color. The bees love this plant, along with hummingbirds. It can grow in most soils with sand added to the mix. A full sun plant but can survive in part shade with fewer blooms. Zones 8-11 Germination Sow seeds the thickness of the seeds on top of the medium and lightly cover with soil. Keep moist in a bright spot. Do not cover with plastic and keep temperatures around 65-75F. Germination is in 7-60 days.
