Kickapoo is is given credit with starting the first self-service stations as Knower had to convince the Wisconsin State Legislature to change the law to allow people to pump their own gasoline. Kickapoo Oil owned over 60 stations before it was sold to Kwik Trip in 1988. Nu-Grape Soda made a citris soda named Kickapoo Joy Juice, but I have found no connections between the two companies. Kickapoo Joy Juice, was first a fictional alcoholic drink in the Little Abner Comic strip by Al Capp. There are also references to a Kickapoo Joy Juice being made by US soldiers during World War 2.
